Our Purpose

The purpose of the Church of the Lutheran Brethren Canada is to glorify God and advance his Kingdom through the proclamation of Jesus Christ as Saviour to all nations, by the power of the Holy Spirit.  (Romans 10:14-17)

In order that this purpose might be accomplished, we will actively engage in four things:

    CHURCH PLANTING

Establishing and nurturing Canadian congregations of Lutheran believers where people are:

    1. Led to faith in Jesus Christ as Saviour.  (Romans 1:16-17; Galatians 3:22-29)
    2. Encouraged and equipped to be Christ’s servants so that others might know Christ as Saviour.  (Romans 12:1-3; 1 Peter 2:11-12)

    LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Preparing people to serve as pastors, missionaries, elders, and other servants as required to accomplish the goal of reaching the nations with the message of salvation in Jesus Christ.  (Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Timothy 1:3-7; 2 Timothy 1:6-14; Titus 2:1-15)

    SERVICE AND FELLOWSHIP

Providing cross-congregational opportunities for Christian service and fellowship.  (Colossians 3:16-17; Hebrews 10:19-25)

    INTERNATIONAL AND NORTH AMERICAN MISSION

We actively fund the training and ongoing work of missionaries placed internationally and locally to carrying the message of Christ to all the people of the world.  We accomplish this goal through sacrificial giving and prayer in support of Lutheran Brethren International Mission (LBIM), North American Mission (NAM) and Lutheran Brethren Seminary (LBS)  (Romans 1:14-15; Romans 10:14-17)
